How much of the original bass line do you really need?
You don't have to learn every note of a recorded bass line to be able to play the song.
In this workshop we'll build a solid foundation first - then add the interesting details.
Simple → Solid → Developed
We'll separate the bass line into:
THE FOUNDATION
The essential part that keeps the song working.
THE VARIATIONS
The extra ideas that add movement, personality and interest.
THE CHOICE
Knowing when to use them - and when to leave them out.

SESSION 1 - BUILD THE FOUNDATION
- Understand the basic bass line
- Learn the essential groove
- Simplify the original part

SESSION 2 - ADD THE VARIATIONS
- Passing notes
- Rhythmic variations
- Short fills
- Turnarounds
- Original bass-line variations
- The changing lines later in the song
- How to choose when to use each variation
No fancy tech needed – if you can join a normal Zoom call, you’re ready.

The workshops will be presented by myself, and if you don't know me yet, I'm Greg Hagger, a professional bass player, educator. and creator of Greg's Bass Shed.
I concentrate on teaching bass players real-life skills, with a focus on feel and confidence, rather than speed or flashy, busy playing.
