Chasing Natural Sustain: Testing the GBS Signature Bass
In this video I’m putting the GBS signature bass through a simple but revealing test: how well it sustains and resonates acoustically, before we even think about amps or pedals. A big part of Sever’s building philosophy is to get as much natural sustain as possible from the wood, construction and setup, so I’m listening for how the bass rings, how long notes hang on, and how the whole instrument feels under the hands.
Built with time and intent
We both believe that creating the right bass is about more than just parts and specifications. It also takes time to step back, reflect, test ideas properly and let the instrument evolve through real playing experience, discussion and feedback.
That slower, more considered approach is a big part of this collaboration, and it’s helping us bring together both of our ideas and experience into one instrument.
