GBS Groove Gym

Get Tighter. Get Deeper. Get In The Pocket.

What's Is It?

A 4-week live bass program for players who want to groove with more confidence, feel and consistency.

You can know all the right notes and still not sound great.

You can play the bass line correctly and still feel like something is missing.

That something is often groove.

GBS Groove Gym is a small-group, live programme designed to help you develop the things that make a bass player really solid:

Time. Touch. Feel. Pocket. Dynamics. And the ability to lock in with the drums.

This isn't about learning hundreds of new bass lines.

It's about making the bass playing you already have feel better.

What We'll Work On

Over four live sessions, we'll work on the fundamentals that separate a bass line that is simply "correct" from one that really grooves.

🥁 TIME & TOUCH

Get more consistent with your timing, note length, muting and plucking.

🎯 LOCKING IN

Learn to hear what the drums are doing and make your bass sit naturally with the groove.

🎸 STAYING IN THE POCKET

Keep the groove solid while moving around the neck, changing chords and developing your lines.

🔥 MAKING IT MUSICAL

Use dynamics, space and simple fills without losing the groove.

How It Works

  • 4 consecutive Wednesday sessions

    1 hour each

    Live on Zoom

Small group — maximum 15–20 players

You'll play, practise, experiment and get feedback rather than simply sitting and watching me demonstrate things.

I'll give you practical exercises and play-along material to work on between sessions so that what we cover actually becomes part of your playing.

Replays will be made available if you can't attend any live session

The First GBS Groove Gym

Starting Wednesday 30 September 2026 at 3pm BST

Then every Wednesday for the following three weeks.

Places will be limited to a maximum of 15–20 players.

I'm deliberately keeping the group small so that there's plenty of opportunity to play and receive feedback.

This Is For You If...

  • You know your bass lines but don't always feel completely solid
  • You sometimes rush or drag the beat
  • You struggle to lock in with drums
  • Your playing can sound a little stiff or mechanical
  • You want better timing and feel
  • You want to understand how great bass players create a pocket
  • You want someone experienced to actually listen to your playing and give you useful feedback
  • You want to become a more confident, musical bass player

You don't need to be an advanced player.

You just need to be ready to listen, play and work on your groove.

THE GBS GROOVE GYM PHILOSOPHY

I don't want you to simply learn another exercise.

I want you to understand why the groove works.

That's why we'll spend time listening to bass and drums together, isolating the different parts, experimenting with timing and feel, and then putting everything back together.

Because great bass playing isn't just about the notes.

It's about what happens between the notes.

MORE DETAILS COMING SOON

I'm currently putting the final details together, including the full programme, pricing and exactly what you'll receive between sessions.

If you're interested in joining the first Groove Gym group, register your interest below.

There is no commitment to buy at this stage.

I'll contact you with the full details and give you the opportunity to join the first group before places are opened more widely.
